Eastspring Investments Dana Dinamik was accorded the best performing fund in the Mixed Asset MYR Flexible 5-Year category at the Edge-Lipper Malaysia Fund Awards 2012. This is the Fund's first award since its inception in February 2004.
Yvonne Tan, Chief Investment Officer, Equities, said "We attribute the fund's performance to our investment philosophy of employing a disciplined, valuation-driven investment style aimed at generating long-term results and also to our investment team's collective effort in stock idea generation, good stock and asset allocation call."
The Fund charted a performance of 54% over the 5- year period, beating a total of 30 peers in the Shariah and Conventional funds categories*.
"We firmly believe in investing companies based on long-term fundamentals", said Yvonne. "We look at the strength of the company's management, business franchise, brand, competitive edge, balance sheet and earnings prospects. In short, stocks that can offer us the structural growth over time regardless of the economic situation, if possible.
While we pick stocks based on strong fundamentals, the premise of this strategy is based on long-term duration. During the volatility, some stock prices fluctuated because of market sentiment, thus impairing our fund's performance in the short-term. Nonetheless, as long as the stock fundamentals are still intact, we will adopt the "buy and hold" strategy for the stocks and stay invested for the long run."
